Megaupload closed with arrests in New Zealand

Megaupload.com has been subject of one of the largest US online piracy cases and with the shutdown has caused the arrest of 4 people in New Zealand. It has come straight after the huge Internet protest towards the bills SOPA and PIPA and now other file lockers such as filesonic.com have taken down their “pay for upload” programs and are using the charges against megaupload.com to change their business models. It is an ominous case and one that shows the US already have the power to take down sites without SOPA and PIPA and so it is not clear why these bills (which are currently on hold) were tried to be pushed through the Senate so quickly.
